Why Prep at Covenant?

  • Your child's best start to Covenant: Covenant Prep is a welcoming environment where your child will feel known, valued, and build lasting friendships. Teachers from Prep and Kindergarten work together to ensure a smooth transition and provide a strong foundation for learning right through to Year 12.
  • Specialist Christian teachers: Our highly qualified early childhood teachers are passionate about faith and education. They model Christ’s love and guide each child with patience, joy, and understanding. Laying strong foundations, children develop confidence, curiosity, and character that will carry them into the years ahead.
  • Opportunities to grow academically: Your child will engage in age-appropriate pre-literacy and pre-numeracy tasks, problem-solving exercises, and physical activities that promote perseverance and growth. They will learn to cope with setbacks through supportive guidance, and opportunities to try again after initial failures.
  • Stretch their creative thinking: Your child will engage in activities like art, music, and imaginative play. Through these activities, your child will develop unique ideas, perspectives and enhance their creativity.
  • Partnering with you: As an extension of the Christian home, we walk closely with parents, working together in the nurture of their child's growth and wellbeing. We encourage parents to be involved in the life of our school, where they can enjoy a hands-on role, volunteering around the school, or getting to know other families by staying for a coffee at Cafe Covie.

20 Years of Expertise

With 20 years of experience, we specialise in preparing little ones for Kindergarten and beyond. Our dedicated educators understand the unique needs of young children and create a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and growth. Through engaging activities and personalised attention, we build social, emotional, physical, academic and biblical foundations that will ensure your child will start their schooling journey with confidence.

Prep is a joyful journey where children build social skills, independence, and emotional growth through play, while immersing themselves in early literacy and numeracy. It’s wonderful to watch them grow, gaining confidence and curiosity as they learn more about the amazing world God has created.

The Space to Learn

In these formative years, we help Prep students build foundations for lifelong learning, social skills, and personal development.

In our program, your child will:

  • develop language, communications skills, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • develop emotional security, social awareness and skills that enable them to have trust in others, to share, to cooperate and to create positive relationships.
  • develop their knowledge of God and understanding of the world around them.
  • grow in their fine and gross motor skills, as well as a focus on creativity through art and music.
  • develop independence by encouraging decision-making, and responsibility.
What a privilege we have in our Prep program to partner with parents in supporting their children as they start their educational journey, guiding them as they explore God’s world, engaging and growing their gifts and talents and developing character, initiative and ability.
Heidi Stead, Head of Junior School

The Place to Grow

Our beautiful indoor and outdoor Prep space has been designed to help your child feel happy and secure, whilst engaging their imagination and curiosity. We also provide opportunities for Prep to connect with our Junior and Secondary School, attending lessons in the Junior Library and visiting senior students, engaging in their various subjects.

“Providing an education which develops an understanding of who Jesus Christ is, and what he has done, is crucial to what we do in Prep.”
Vicki Ming, Prep Teacher

Daramu | Bush Kindy

Exploring God's incredible world together

Nature-based learning is essential! We enable our young ones to discover God and his world through weekly visits to our local bush area.

What does Daramu mean?

It means ‘tree’ in ‘The Sydney Language’ of the Aboriginal People of the Sydney District. Daramu is a beautiful piece of Crown bushland just over the road from Prep. It is part pine forest and part native bushland.

With safety measures in place, children discover more about our creator God and the bushland he has given us to care for. This unhurried time helps develop:

  • observation skills
  • communication skills
  • problem solving skills
  • independence
  • self-confidence
